The Tripster

We have been so blessed by the presence of Trip David in our lives. It's amazing how much you love your first child that you think you could never love another child the same... but you do! Your love isn't cut in half, it's just multiplied :) I am absolutely overwhelmed by this little boy. I love holding him, just looking at him, seeing him grow, hearing him coo, and just being with him. Here are a few pictures from his first few weeks of life. I think he's definitely "changed looks" a few times. One thing's for sure, he's no line backer like his brother. He has skinny lil bird legs and I love them! However, he is like my mother who is "deceptively strong." He has already rolled over from stomach to back by pushing off with his arms and lifting his head so far off the ground. Maybe he'll be quarterback and Jet will block for him :)

The cookie monster towel is my fav!!! Thanks Uncle Matt and Aunt beth!!

Someone started playing with all the newborn toys :)

He always gets so cozy on Daddy :)

One is strapped in and the other can't move... motherhood perfected.

Look at those legs!!

He loves a bath as long as the water is really hot

Wiped out

More pics to come!

Trip David Rimbey

I know it has been quite a while since my last post. Life has kept us busy running after a growing toddler. However we areTHRILLED to announce the arrival of our second son. What an honor to be entrusted with such a precious gift. Trip David Rimbey was born on Saturday, June 29th 2013 at 1:54pm. He weighed in at 6 pounds 5 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. That's the same length as his brother but almost an entire pound lighter. Here's the summary of his birth story...

On Friday (the 28th) I actually went to the hospital around 4pm to be monitored as I hadn't felt the little guy move in quite a while. After telling us he was fine and moving they sent us home to what I thought would be a few days wait. We got home around 6pm ish.. had dinner, put Jet to bed, and decided to watch The Hunger Games movie. Around 10:30pm I looked up at JT and said, "I think I just had a contraction!" He grabbed a pad and pen. At 11pm I had another one, and about 7 minutes later I had another one. If you go to the hospital too soon then they send you back home. I didn't want to take another trip to the hospital only to be sent home again so I was head strong about laboring at home for a little while. If any of you know my husband at all this was not something he's a fan of :) We called my parents to come to our house to stay with Jet until the morning and JT finally dragged me to the hospital at 1:30am. We were driving in a terrible lightning storm (lightning was dancing across the sky! Besides the contractions every few minutes it was quite a sight to see).

We got to the hospital with the delight of having our close friend Mary (who is a labor and delivery nurse) working! I was so thankful to see a familiar face. We asked her to be our nurse and she was excited to share this day with us. When we got to the hospital I was only 1.5 centimeters (drat!). However the contractions were strong enough and close enough together that we could stay for 2 hours and be checked again for admission. About 20 minutes into our stay the power went out throughout the entire hospital... for over an hour! The triage room was in the center of the building with no windows so JT was using his cell phone to help the nurses get through the hall ways as I sat on the exercise ball. Crazy. Long story short, we were admitted around 4:30am and got the epidural immediately. That sucker worked this time (wahoo!!). It wore off a few times and they just upped my drip. Little Tripster had his cord wrapped around his neck (which we didn't know until he came out) so with every contraction his heart rate plummeted. Mary was only working the night shift until 7am so she hand picked Heather to be our nurse for the remainder of the day and she was amazing! When Trip's heart rate would plummet Heather would switch me from one side to the other. She switched me from my left side to my right side and back again at least 50 times (not kidding) by the time the day had ended. She gave me oxygen and did several other things to keep this kids heart rate up so we wouldn't have to have a c-section. I'm so thankful she was a knowledgable nurse who cared about having a natural delivery. I progressed to 10 centimeters quickly and by this time the epidural was wearing off again but we decided not to up the drip again so I could feel to push. 20 minutes of pushing and little Trip was born. The doctor actually walked into the room, got his scrubs on, turned to the bed and caught trip within seconds! What a difference this delivery was from Jet. So thankful Mary was working and picked Heather as my nurse and so thankful for Dr. Littleton (who we'd never met before) as he was such a great doctor. I will write more about the first few weeks of Tripster's life but for now here are the pictures from the hospital. So thankful for this sweet boy!

Mary hooking me up to all the machines as we were finally admitted for the day. Love this girl!
