Mimi and Pappy's - Post #1

With the plethora of pictures we gathered from our visit to Pittsburgh I'm going to have to space them out over a few posts.  Here are pictures from the first few days...

3 of Kathy's sister's were going out of town but wanted to see little man, so the day we arrived we met them for lunch at the local Mexican restaurant (so good by the way!).  Here's a group photo (a little dark but the only one we got).  I also got to see sweet Amelia who is JT's cousin's daughter (follow that?).  Tracy and Robert what a precious little girl you have!

One of our favorite things to do is sit on the porch and swing.  Jet loves his Mimi!

OK, long story about these itty bitty birds.  This nest is located above the front doors.  Kathy hasn't taken her lights down because these birdies would lose their home.  Tom and Kathy have watch them for quite a while.  Going from little eggs to these big chicks.  Here they are looking straight up at the ceiling with their mouths open.  Their mother had just come with a worm but was scared away when I stood to get a picture.  The second to last day we were home Kathy and I noticed that the chicks were gone... they had flown the coupe!  However, a maybe-not-so-strong birdie was nestled up in the corner of the door frame.  It looked so sad and scared :(  The next day we couldn't find it, so maybe it got enough strength and flew away?  Anyhoo, it was quite fun to see.

 On Friday we had our nephew Andy for the day.  Mimi packed a great picnic lunch and we headed to Brady's Run Park for some fun.  Jet enjoyed himself until the bugs got itchy and the day got long.  We ended up leaving early to get Jet home for a nap and JT went back for the rest of the gang.

This is a quick Happy Birthday shootout to my oh so special Mom.  Words can't express what she means to me and how special of a person she is.  My life is sweetened because of her presence, kindness, and friendship we have.  And of course life is getting even more special as she is a grandma now (even though she looks like my sister).  Jet lights up for her and I think it's because of that special feeling you can only get from Grandma.  Here are a few pictures we have of him and her.  We love you Mom.  Thanks for being such a great Mom.  I couldn't have dreamed of a better one and I pray that I, too, can love my kids with the same passion that you have loved us.  Happy Birthday :)

Fun fun fun!

We're back!  Did you even know we left??  Jet, JT and I packed up and headed North to Pittsburgh to see JT's parents and family.  We left at 9pm Wednesday and arrived just before 6am on Thursday.  That's right folks, we drove through the night.  We thought it would be easier on Jet to be able to sleep for the 8 and a half hour car ride.  And... we were right!  Little man rustled a little but didn't make a peep the whole way.  So, we did it on the way back.  We arrived home this morning around 4:45am.  Caught up on sleep today and am just getting to the blog (I must insert the comment that JT drove the entire way.. both ways.  So, he had a little more sleep to catch up on than I did :)  Way to go hubs!).  We had such a blast.  We got to see lots of family and do plenty of relaxing too.  It's quite late so I'll just wet your palette tonight with a few pictures from our arrival morning.  When JT got Jet out of his carseat at 5:45am to put him in the crib he was just smiling away!  He went right back to sleep and we woke him up at 8:30am to start the day.  Here are some of the good morning hugs from Mimi and Pappy.  Lots of posts to come so stay tuned!

Rice Cereal?? ..Not so much.

This post is a little late.  Last Thursday, May 10th we gave Jet Thomas his first tastings of "solid" food.  I put quotations around the solid because it was so runny it was almost the same as milk, just a little cereal added.  This was an exciting day for JT and I as we were thrilled to hit this milestone... only to learn Jet hates it :(  We tried for a few days and he just wouldn't eat it.  I thought maybe it was the texture in his mouth or just the fact that he was getting it by spoon instead of bottle... wrong.  He just hates the stuff.  Since then we've tried oatmeal and he will eat a little of that a few times a day.  Maybe I'll have a picky eater since it runs in my blood :)  My mom just smiles when I tell her these things because she had the pickiest eater of all.  Oh well, still made for a fun day and an opportunity for pictures.  Enjoy.

We thought maybe the problem was that mommy was feeding him and when he see's mommy he expects milk.  So, Daddy gave it a shot to no avail.

Oh well.  We've hung up the rice cereal for good and will stick with oatmeal for now.  We'll try some peas and carrots when he turns 5 months old.  We love you Jet Thomas!  It's so fun to watch you try new things! :)

Happy Mother's Day to me!!

What a special day :)  I absolutely love being a mom to this amazing little boy and JT did a good job spoiling me and letting me know how much I'm appreciated.  Enjoy the pictures below.

First we went to church.  Little man was so sweet all day :)

Then we came home and JT made waffles.  After that my boys gave me my cards and present.

I will post about what this present was in the next few days.

Then we went out to El Dorado (no pictures) which is my idea of great Mexican food.  We wrapped up the evening cuddling on the couch.  *sigh* what a perfect day with my favorite boys :)

Let's not forget my sweet oldest brother sent me flowers.  He's always taken good care of me and Matthew as he is the oldest and feels a responsibility to do so.
